As well as allowing you to be recognized as male by giving your chest a more masculine or non-binary appearance, it typically increases self-esteem, mental health and overall life satisfaction.

Dr. Jacobs is passionate about helping you on your journey

If you are considering FTM top surgery, chances are you have been on your journey for a while. You may already have begun counseling and hormone therapy. Regardless of the procedure, we always evaluate a patient’s physical and psychological readiness for surgery. This is even more critical with transgender individuals. Top surgery changes lives and should be considered irreversible. When you come in for your initial consultation, Dr. Jacobs will ask you questions about your journey so far, your support system and your physical and emotional health. It is not his intention to be intrusive! Dr. Jacobs merely wants to help you proceed in the best way possible.

Your Top Surgery In Boca Raton Is Tailored To Suit Your Unique Goals

FTM top surgery is a highly individualized surgery, and Dr. Jacobs will make a surgical plan based on your unique physiology and goals. Dr. Jacobs will go over your specific goals and your options thoroughly with you. It is important that you are fully informed of all aspects of the surgery, as well as what to expect. It can be helpful to bring photos of the look you are going for. You and Dr. Jacobs will work together to make sure you fully understand each other and agree on the surgical strategy.

What is the procedure like?

Before your surgery is scheduled, Dr. Jacobs will help you take any needed steps in preparation for surgery. It is important to us that you are fully prepared physically and emotionally. When you arrive at our office on the day of your surgery, you and Dr. Jacobs will go over the details of your surgery one last time.

In the operating room, Dr. Calvello (Dr. Jacobs’ anesthesiologist) will administer your twilight sedation, and you will be asleep throughout the operation. FTM top surgery typically takes 90-120 minutes. We will wrap your chest in soft bandages, and within an hour or two, you should be able to go home again, with the assistance of a friend or loved one.

How much time will I need to take off?

You should plan to have someone spend the first night with you in case you need help. Ideally, you would have a friend or relative to assist you for the first few days, as you will spend most of your time resting. You should expect to experience some bruising and swelling. Dr. Jacobs will provide you with detailed post-operative instructions to help facilitate a speedy and smooth recovery process. You should plan to take at least a week off from work. You will start to see changes immediately, but your final results won’t be visible until any swelling fully subsides.
