Brow lifts are performed under either local anesthesia, IV sedation or general anesthesia in our accredited in-office surgery suite on an outpatient basis. There are three procedures we may use:
What Can a Brow Lift Do for My Look?
If you have deep forehead creases, drooping eyebrows, or hooded eyelids and are in good health, a forehead lift or brow lift may be appropriate for you. Some patients who have used BOTOX injections for years may opt for a brow lift to smooth away creases and lines for the long-term. A surgical brow lift, performed by a talented plastic surgeon, can subtly but dramatically enhance your facial appearance.
Brow Lifts What Is the Surgery? How Long Will It Take?
- Endoscopic brow lift: The endoscopic procedure, which involves placing four tiny incisions in the hair, is the least invasive. This approach involves a tiny camera inserted into a small incision, and the muscles and skin of the brow corrected with small surgical tools. The incisions are small, and the results excellent.
- Open brow lift: If you have a very high hairline, you may opt for a hairline incision, which has the added benefit of lowering the hairline. The incision will be placed within the hairline, crossing from side to side, with a section of skin removed and the area stitched, lifting the brow while lowering your hairline.
- Temporal lift: A small amount of skin is removed at the temporal hairline to lift the corner of the eyebrow. This is the simplest browlift we perform and we use most frequently these days.
The decision of which procedure will be used is made in consultation with our surgeon during your consultation. The length of the procedure is in the range of one to two hours.

How Long Is the Recovery After a Brow Lift?
After an endoscopic brow lift, the recovery time ranges from about five to seven days. The open procedure will require about three more days to recover, as an average. Most patients are back to full activity within two weeks. You will experience some bruising and swelling around the eyes and forehead, which can be relieved with cold compresses or ice packs for the first few days, along with Tylenol for discomfort. A few days following your procedure, we will see you for a postoperative visit, at which time any non-absorbable sutures are usually removed.
