A labial reduction is a plastic surgery procedure that reduces the size of the labia minora, also called the inner labia. It is performed for women whose labia are elongated, protruding or asymmetrical, causing sexual or social embarrassment or painful swelling, prohibiting exercise, spinning, sweating or sexual intercourse. In addition, the outer labia (majora) can be either augmented or reduced to produce a desired cosmetic appearance.
How Labial Reduction Surgery Is Performed
Labiaplasties are performed under either local anesthesia, IV sedation or general anesthesia in our Boca Raton accredited in-office surgery suite, on an outpatient basis, meaning you'll be able to return home the day of your procedure. The procedure typically takes about an hour. It will involve your surgeon carefully trimming and re-shaping your labia minora, according to your specific cosmetic goals. Clitoral hood reduction and labia majora reduction or fat grafting may also be performed depending upon your anatomy and wishes. Before your actual procedure, we will walk you through everything you can expect, and we will go over detailed aftercare instructions, so you know exactly what your recovery period will be like.
