Background and Education

A Massachusetts native, Dr. Del Vecchio attended Yale University, where he graduated summa cum laude before returning to Boston, where he attended Harvard Medical School and earned his medical degree in 1984. Dr. Del Vecchio then advanced his skills, training in general and plastic surgery at Mass General Hospital and achieved board certification in general surgery and plastic surgery. His surgical skills were honed further through fellowship training in plastic surgery at the University of Pennsylvania.

Since completing his plastic surgery training over a decade ago, Dr. Del Vecchio has continued to remain in an academic environment and educate others in plastic surgery. He has published papers in plastic surgery literature, authored chapters in major plastic surgery textbooks, and spoken at national plastic surgery meetings. Dr. Del Vecchio has also been involved in educating surgical residents at Tufts-New England Medical Center, where he was an Assistant Professor of Surgery, and at Harvard’s Massachusetts General Hospital, where he is currently a member of the Consulting Staff in the Division of Plastic Surgery.
